A lifelong reader who devoured War and Peace and An American Tragedy in seventh grade, Laura believes books change culture, sharpen critical thinking, and make complex ideas understandable. While her established body of work centers on business and careers, she is expanding into historical nonfiction and children’s literature, all rooted in a deep curiosity about identity, resilience, and the narratives we inherit.
Laura is currently developing She Started It: The Women Who Built American Industry, a narrative nonfiction project that uncovers the often-overlooked female founders and innovators who shaped America’s earliest economic engines. She writes across genres and is also currently developing a new educational children’s book series that introduces young readers to the wonders of the world through magical realism. Her work is informed not only by her experience as an author, but also by her time as the chief operating officer for a nonfiction book marketing agency, where she helped hundreds authors get more copies of their books into the hands of their ideal readers. Professional Background
In 2012, Laura transitioned from serving as a 7th -grade Social Studies teacher to starting her own business as a freelance writer, digital marketing strategist, and book launch consultant supporting clients across the legal, financial, advertising, and publishing industries. Laura’s own entry into remote entrepreneurship was driven by her role as a military spouse, a lifestyle that led to over a dozen moves all over the country for her husband’s career. Her career has been defined by versatility; she has served as a fractional CMO, director of marketing and partnerships, content strategist, and project manager, and she has been formally trained in advertising strategy by the team at Facebook.
Throughout her freelance career, she has ghostwritten millions of words for clients and shaped the marketing strategies of hundreds of businesses.
Laura’s work extends deeply into the publishing world. She has helped authors refine launch strategies, develop platform growth plans, and build messaging that resonates with readers. In addition, Laura has contributed directly to the creative side of publishing. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science, a master’s degree in political science, and has completed all coursework toward a Ph.D. in public administration and policy. She received her Doctorate in Business Administration in 2026, with research focused on the future of work through the lens of full-time freelancers, examining how they navigate motivations, identity formation, and risk in boundaryless careers. Laura is skilled at translating complex findings into clear, compelling insights that help readers and audiences understand not just what is happening in the world of work, but why it matters.

My primary background is in writing business and career books. However, as my career and interests have evolved, I’ve broadened out to narrative nonfiction projects and children’s books as well.

I frequently speak at regional, virtual, and national conferences. I’ve previously keynoted for Upwork, the world’s biggest freelance job board in addition to speaking at the Editorial Freelancer’s Association, The National Association of Independent Writers and Editors, the Military Influencer Conference, and Military Creator Con.
